I know Halima Aden as a fashion model. The first to ever grace the cover of fashion magazines wearing her hijab with pride. But just like any human being there is more than meets the eye. Halima Aden, a black muslim Somali-American from Kenya. (Talk about diversity!)
Naomi Osaka became the first Japanese to win a Grand Slam singles title on Saturday as her idol Serena Williams angrily exploded, calling the chair umpire in the US Open final ‘a thief’. Umpire Carlos Ramos accused Serena of receiving coaching from her box, the tantrum later resulted in a $17,000 fine.
Kofi Annan, the first black African to lead the United Nations, has died at age 80. Mr Annan died in the early hours of Saturday in Switzerland after a short illness, according to a statement issued by his family. The Nobel Peace Laureate was the seventh Secretary-General of the UN from January 1997 to December 2006, and became the first black African man to take on the top job as the world’s top diplomat.
The United Nations Migration Agency, the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation confirmed his death in a tweet, saying:
A life well lived. A life worth celebrating.

Wherever there was suffering or need, he reached out and touched many people with his deep compassion and empathy
A few days ago I was tempted into a discussion online. Some hotep was being a bigot by hating on a black man for supporting the LGBTQ+ community. After reading his very disturbing comments, I felt a rush going through my body and decided I would set this man straight! I ended up ruining my Sunday by going back and forth with someone who I shouldn’t have paid attention to. This man was a posterboy for trolling….but how could I have known?
