Alkebulan has been on the interwebs for some time now and in order to do what we do, which is changing the image of Africa, we need to be inspired! These are the people that inspire us daily with their awesomeness – in no particular order.
Dear Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc etc (male) friends,
I feel like I needed to say this. So please read carefully: NO! Cosby does not have and will never have my vote or support, ever again. However, I will forever appreciate what he did as the character Mr Huxtable. The show, the writers and the character he played were responsible for the positive perception of black lives and families on TV, but lets separate the character from the actor. He was not, is not and never will be Mr Huxtable like Harrison Ford isn’t Han solo (although we would like to be believe he is ;)). Like most of us, Mr Cosby has his own life and we do not know what he does when he comes home from his job…
Thursday 7 May we released the Alkebulan Project, numerous artists from various areas of Africa joined together and celebrated the release. We celebrated this fine night with music from Amartey & The Yung Bilibams, Elvira and performances of Tofik Dibi, Ouassima.A mishmash of beautiful creatures visited our event and we couldn’t be more happy about the end result:

Our culture is varied and miscellaneous, it is a product of a diverse continent, which creates a talented population, that today lives and works in Africa and the African Diaspora. The music, art, literature and cultural practices have triggered interest and respect throughout the world.
